David Horowitz Hit by Pie at Butler Lecture

David Horowitz is the latest in a rather long line of conservative commentators assaulted on college campuses.

David Horowitz, president of the Center for the Study of Popular Culture, had just started a lecture at Butler when he was hit. Horowitz’s supporters followed the assailants out of the hall, and confronted them with what a witness called “pushing and shoving.” However, the attackers got away. “There’s a wave of violence on college campuses, committed by what I’d call fascists opposing conservatives,” Horowitz said. “It’s one step from that to injury.”

After the incident, Horowitz completed his lecture.

It was the second time in a week that a conservative lecturer was hit by a pie at an Indiana university. On March 30, William Kristol, editor of The Weekly Standard, was attacked during a speech at Earlham College in Richmond.

The inability or unwillingness of university administrators to prevent these attacks is stunning. I support the right of Ward Churchill and his ilk to have a voice at college campuses. It’s equally important that controverialists of the Right have an opportunity to be heard as well.

Horowitz spends a lot of time telling people that this is exactly what the left has come to.

Makes you wonder why someone would want to prove his point. What a bunch of morons.

  2. Maggie says:

Isn’t it amazing that it’s only the liberal “peace” mongers who are demonstrating this type of ‘ASSAULT’.

  3. Hal says:

Yea, why doesn’t the left stick to threatening the judiciary? What a bunch of wimps sticking with pies.

After all, they have 70 years’ experience at it. Stick with what you know, eh?

A quibble. If by “ilk” you mean “the far left in general” I agree. But, as you doubtless know, there is much more to the Ward Churchill scandal than his extremist statements. His history of misrepresenting his own ethnicity, his misuse of sources, and his plagiarism of both scholarly work and artwork are ample reasons to kick him off campus.

  5. let 1,000 pies fly!!!
i guess folks are inspired by the pies i threw at fascist politicians during the 70s and 80s…
well this is being done by folks who are marxist-lennonists (groucho-john) in politics….in the tradition of the three stooges.
it is assassination being done w/o a bullet designed to smash their pompous fascist egos

  6. Scott Dillard says:

Can’t Horowitz just sue for assault? Maybe if a few people didn’t just brush this type of behavior off as “harmless”, it would stop.

  7. Kent says:

Well, now I understand why these people throw pies. It’s because they can’t express themselves coherently.

    Bwaahahahaha!!!

Kate McMillan at the Western Standard could not of said it better:

Just so we’re clear about this with our lefty friends who seem to be increasingly attracted to this form of “expression” – when you’re bereft of reasoned, logical arguments against speech with which you disagree, it’s a sign that you don’t know what you’re talking about. There is no need to drive that point home through a violent attack. And if you dispute the characterization of pie throwing as “violence”, I invite you to stand against a wall and allow me to the opportunity to change your mind.

Most troubling is the lax attitude universities have towards the issue – it is simply a matter of time until one of these moonbats decides to upgrade their tools of “dissent”.

  10. Rod Stanton says:

The progressives have been resorting to violence to suppress free speech since the Socialist Labor Party got going. Was this the same pie Ann Coulter got in Oct?
