DAVIS’ PROSPECTS

Steven Taylor thinks Davis is toast and is intrigued by the speculation surrounding a possible Davis resignation. He also links Dan Weintraub who links himself with a post saying California’s laws are screwed up and it’s unclear exactly what happens if Davis resigns: While the recall would go forward, the status of the Lieutenant Governor is not specified.

Davis resigning now would be a case of "too little, too late." He should have done it at least a month ago.

The only way for Davis to remain Governor is for him to head off part 1 of the recall election. If he resigns today, Bustamante becomes acting Governor until Oct 3 election. If part 1 is defeated, Bustamante becomes the Governor, and he appoints someone else as Lt. Governor. If part 1 is passed, Bustamante can still win, if he gets the most votes on part 2.

OH GOD-

Do you realize what will happen here.....

David resigns and Bustamante becomes acting Gov.

The Dems sue to stop the recall and when the courts rules against them...

ARNOLD WILL BE SELECTED NOT ELECTED.

Oh crap... More whining.

LOL

On a serious note..

How can a guy who lied to the public to pull off 47% of the vote in the last election hope to get a majority now that he has a 20% approval rating?

I can't think of any time there has ever been enough party unity for any party at any time in this country to pull this one off.
