D.C. Rally for Denmark on Friday

In his piece yesterday chastizing Western leaders for not standing up for Denmark, Christopher Hitchens closed with a request,
I feel terrible that I have taken so long to get around to this, but I wonder if anyone might feel like joining me in gathering outside the Danish Embassy in Washington, in a quiet and composed manner, to affirm some elementary friendship.
I was among the large number of people who emailed expressing interest. He updated his piece this afternoon:
Thank you all who’ve written. Please be outside the Embassy of Denmark, 3200 Whitehaven Street (off Massachusetts Avenue) between noon and 1 p.m. this Friday, Feb. 24. Quietness and calm are the necessities, plus cheerful conversation. Danish flags are good, or posters reading “Stand By Denmark” and any variation on this theme (such as “Buy Carlsberg/ Havarti/ Lego”) The response has been astonishing and I know that the Danes are appreciative. But they are an embassy and thus do not of course endorse or comment on any demonstration. Let us hope, however, to set a precedent for other cities and countries. Please pass on this message to friends and colleagues.
I’d encourage others within driving distance of D.C. to join us.

Ever since you went to Amsterdam, you've become a real Euro-phile, James!! It's amazing what a free trip to the European Union does to build sympathy!

As a Christian the cartoons on this site are a little shocking, but as a conservative I believe in freedom to offend even the majority. Irregardless, I doubt there will be rioting in the Vatican . http://www.expensivespeech.com/
Yhoi: It should be noted that the first (i.e., bottom) ten of the posts in the thread linked above were written and published before I left!
I agree with the gathering to support Denmark, but the Danes need to be reminded that they brought this on themselves through their liveral policies.
FYI, Hillary Clinton's house is immediately across the street from the Royal Danish Embassy.
Hold your nose...you'll get through this.
