RonK at Daily Kos points to this WaPo report that Howard Dean–who has so far received zero primary votes and who is not the top candidate in the nationwide polls–has asked Wesley Clark to join him on the ticket as his Veep. Interesting.
What’s strange is RonK’s comment:
There’s more to it than that. It can now be revealed that the Dean-Clark meeting in California was the cover for a decidedly more consequential encounter. The real dark horse in the presidential derby is a familiar face. It’s not Al Gore, and it’s not Hillary Clinton.It’s a Washington insider, progressive Democratic party stalwart, ubiquitous talking head, Barney Frank’s sister, former Clinton White House Communications Director Ann Lewis (who just happens to be in CA working on the recall).
If Ms. Lewis can translate her connections, media savvy and precedent-setting insider/outsider appeal into the high single-digit preference numbers in a key state or two, look for the General to park his bandwagon and sign on as VP. Now that’s a ticket with truly historic potential!
Indeed. Nothing the Democrats need more to juice up the ticket than a shrill, unattractive candidate with no elected political experience who’s related to Barney Frank. Hell, nominate Frank: That would be historic.

"Dean and Franks" would be very close to "Franks and Beans," which would be mildly amusing.

What is most shocking is that anyone could be remotely excited about Ann Lewis running. Egads.

I think mosrt American's first response to an Ann Lewis candidacy would be: who the hell is Ann Lewis? Any relation to Grandpa Lewis?
