Democratic 527 Raises $11 Million
Chris Cillizza reports that The Fund for America, a major Democrat-leaning 527 group, “has raised better than $11 million — largely from wealthy individuals — since its inception last November and doled out nearly half that sum to various progressive organizations around the country.” Among its major donors is George Soros.
What strikes me about the sum is how small it is compared to the hundreds of millions the Democratic candidates are raising this cycle. Presuming that 1) Barack Obama gets the Democratic nomination and 2) doesn’t get suckered into accepting federal matching funds, could this be the first presidential election in memory where the candidate’s own spending far outstrips that of his party and affiliated interest groups?

In the Presidential election maybe, I see the 527's focusing more on local issues and elections than they have in the past, where $11 million is still a substantial amount of money.
At an astounding $1M a day last month Obama is going to have trouble explaining exactly who is suffering in this "recession."
Seems to me the only one being "short changed" is McCain!
McCain could possibly have passed the bill into law that could defeat him. Should we say unintended consequences.
