Ecosystem Changes Unveiled

N.Z. Bear has released the latest version of the Ecosystem. See his detailed explanation at the link.
Essentially, he eliminates or reduces the impact of formal blog networks, excessive cross-linking between particular blogs, and excessive linking in general. The first two seem like no-brainers to me; the last is one that I find possibly problematic in theory but have no firm opinion of until I see it in action for a while. So far, it hasn’t hurt Glenn Reynolds’ ranking any and, given that he is the uber-linker, I’ll be curious to see how that works.

Thanks James. Regarding the maximum outbound link limit: Glenn has nothing to fear, because he isn't really an "uberlinker" in these terms at all. His current and average outbound links are way below where I have set the maximum limit.
Anybody who is actually manually blogging and adding links themselves should have nothing to fear --- I'm just trying to prevent folks dumping huge lists of links onto their pages simply because they can...

Ah...
I think I see what you're getting at now. Because my attention is mostly on the top 50 of the rankings, I'm not looking at the spam blogs. But I imagine most folks are and are happy to have competition with them taken away.
I don't get it.
A month ago, I had about 62 links, ranked around 4600, and was a Cute Little Rodent.
Two weeks ago, I had about 65 links, ranked around 4000, and was a Slithering Reptile.
Now I find that I have about 56 links credited, rank around 3600, and am now a Flappy Bird.
Me no sabe.
Well, I seem to have recovered by about 130 places in the ecosystem, which given the adjustment for "formal blogging networks," of which I belong to maybe two, makes more sense than dropping into the #500 neighborhood.
Now if I could just manage to sustain my recent gains in traffic...
So how will the ecosystem evolve? Informal networks? More carnivals? The existing carnivals with higher frequency maybe? All of the above.
And for all those creationists, look at Kent! He is speciating...err is that even a word?
I would suggest, James, bumping this one ten days from now... I suppose comments will be freeer flowing once consequences from these changes, if any, occur.
