Former teacher Pamela Rogers sent nude photos to her 13-year-old boyfriend in violation of her parole.
A former teacher who has already served jail time for having sex with a 13-year-old student was sent to prison for more than six years Friday for violating her probation by sending the boy nude photos of herself.
When Pamela Rogers, 29, was released after serving 198 days in jail, she was under orders not to contact the student or his family or use the Internet. But authorities say that even after appearing in court on a charge of violating her probation in April, she continued talking with the boy and sending him text messages and sexually explicit photos and video of herself. “You have done everything except show this court that you wanted to rehabilitate yourself,” Warren County Circuit Judge Bart Stanley said. He revoked Rogers’ probation and ordered her to serve the rest of a seven-year prison sentence that had been largely suspended.
Rogers, who has been in jail since April, presented evidence in a hearing Friday, including a clinical psychologist who said she was a sex addict. She apologized tearfully and was led away in handcuffs to a women’s prison in Nashville.
Rogers worked as a physical education teacher at Centertown Elementary School, which the boy, now 14, attended. She was first arrested in February 2005 and pleaded no contest to charges of statutory rape and sexual battery by an authority figure. Records in the case said she had intercourse and oral sex with the student.
Well, if she’s a “sex addict,” you’d think she’d be covered under the Americans with Disabilities Act and this prosecution would constitute harassment. It seems a shame to punish her for a medical condition like that.
The AP provides a photo slideshow but it’s just more of Rogers crying, not any of the nude photos. She appears to be a reasonably attractive woman. I suspect her young victim was perfectly happy to receive nude photos of her over the Internet. But tempting an adolescent with sexually explicit images is just wrong, wrong, wrong.
Certainly, it would be if the genders were reversed. It’s hard to get too worked up about it in this direction, though. A double standard, to be sure.

It's funny how a young woman is a mentally ill sex addict and a man would be a sexual predator/rapist. I'm amazed she is actually doing time in jail. I'm surprised she does not claim to be the victim of the thirteen year old boy.
So where the hell are they? Sheesh. Misleading headline if you ask me.

I write for a rural county newspaper. We broke a story this week about a 35 year old PE teacher/coach having an affair with his 15 year old female student/player. In most people's eyes, he's considered a sick bastard even though the sex was consensual and THEY BOTH SAY they're in love with each other.
In my view, it's sick behavior no matter what gender is the master and what gender is the slave. Adult coaches are supposed to see right from wrong.
And yes, I was tantalized by the headline. It sucked me in too.

I seem to recall using the line somewhere to that as regards to Bill Clinton.
And as a practical matter, it seems a little strange to me that the courts should be regarding this fourteen year old as a victim, insofar as I doubt the average fourteen year old would consider himself so in a situation wshere a fairly decent -looking 20 something finds him interesting.
(Of course I'm aware there are other considerations in play here, but bear with me a moment.)
Logically, based on that idea, one could easily aver that this kind of thing happens far more frequently than we are aware of, since the victims tend not to report the crimes.

There is no doubt that there is a double standard here.
However, as the father of three boys, I would consider it very, very serious if when one of them is 13 that a woman in a position of power was sexually using one of them.
It isn't like such an experience is good for the development of a child.
The problem here is that we don't take these kinds of situations seriously enough, not that we take the older male/younger female stories too seriously.
This is abuse regardless of the gender mix.
