Flypaper Strategy Revisited

Don Sensing? has an interesting post revisiting the so-called “flypaper strategy,” the idea that going to war in Iraq would draw al Qaeda terrorists in (like flies) so that we could kill them in one place.

Don notes that,

[T]he “flypaper strategy” was never a strategy of the Bush administration. What Bush & Co. should be criticized for is failing to foresee that Iraq would be like flypaper to al Qaeda terrorists.

It’s a long post but worth the read.

That's why it isn't called the "flypaper strategery."

Flypaper kills the sticky victims slowly.
I would prefer operation "Flyswatter".
It's quicker, more humane.
