The Politico’s Kenneth P. Vogel has learned that, as people start taking Fred Thompson’s possible presidential bid more seriously, rival campaigns are starting to look for ways to campaign against him.
Who’d have ever guessed that?

Shocking!!
I find this kind of article quite useful. Basically, it's a list of items wherein Thompson has strayed from orthodox Republican base issues. Or, as I see it, a list of reasons to vote for Thompson.
It would be very helpful to have a similar list for each of the other candidates.
Any time a candidate comes into a race with airs of Christ cleansing the temple, he's setting a rather high bar for himself.
Can Thompson clear it? Possibly. American loves its actors, and is suspicious of sincerety.
An observation:
Republicans claim to hate Hollywood, and Hollywood clearly loves Democrats, yet elected actors/entertainers are almost invariably Republicans.
Weird, that.
I'm surprised that no one has really talked about Fred helping ram McCain/Feingold through the Senate.
