The Democrats have picked up a third Senate seat, FOX projects, as Kay Hagan has beaten incumbent Elizabeth Dole.
About the Author: James Joyner is the publisher of Outside the Beltway and the managing editor of the Atlantic Council. He's a former Army officer, Desert Storm vet, and college professor with a PhD in political science from The University of Alabama. He lives just outside the Beltway in Alexandria, Virginia with his wife and infant daughter.

Though it will be small comfort, even conservatives should like the idea that a smear campaign ridiculous enough can sink someone's own campaign. If you believe in your arguments, then they should lead the way.
