What about the calls the Democrats to intervene in Haiti as an unilaterist action? I was waiting for the United Nations resolutions, monitor teams and the formal studies before we took this reckless step.

I should find it deliciously ironic that the same Democrats who complained about "unilateralism" in Iraq have been slamming the administration for not acting unilaterally in Haiti. But I don't. I find it pathetically predictable. I find it perfectly in character for them to embrace two contradictory positions before breakfast and then treat anyone who notices the contradiction as a dunderhead.

Their positions are not inconsistent.

They opposed removing Saddam, an anti-American dictator, from Iraq.

They wanted us to help prop-up Aristide, an anti-American dictator, in Haiti.
