Harold Ford Next DLC Chair

Harold Ford’s consolation prize for making a strong run for Bob Corker’s Senate seat: the chairmanship of the Democratic Leadership Council. A solid choice, I think.

About the Author: James Joyner is the publisher of Outside the Beltway and the managing editor of the Atlantic Council. He's a former Army officer, Desert Storm vet, and college professor with a PhD in political science from The University of Alabama. He lives just outside the Beltway in Alexandria, Virginia with his wife and infant daughter.

Has Harold Ford ever actually LIVED in Tennessee?

Yes, although mostly in DC. Not that it much matters for the DLC gig.

That's what I meant.
Another "inside the beltway job" for someone "from" Tennessee.

Like all those congressmen who lose and then never go back to their beloved homes.

Well, Congressmen build a network and skill set that's mostly useful in the Beltway. Having a lot of contacts in Washington doesn't really do you much good in Memphis.

In any Howard Dean, M.D./Harold Ford battles I'll be siding with the latter who's sane and a Democrat who's not all about Bush bashing.
