Hawaii Caucus First Next Time?

Hawaii Caucus First Next Time? Matthew Yglesias, noting that the Iowa Caucuses are largely a media event and that it’s really cold in Iowa in January, proposes a novel solution: “the first-in-the-nation Hawaii Caucus.”

It wouldn’t be any sillier than what we have now. Of course, it would be somewhat more inconvenient for the candidates to shuttle between Hawaii, DC, and New Hampshire. But since Iowa’s “retail politics” is supposed to be at least partly a test of stamina, that’s really a feature rather than a bug.

Of course, if B. Hussein wins the Presidency the Axis of Evil will likely launch another attack on Hawaii and assert an occupation of our soil.

And because Hussein is reflexively anti-troops, he will destroy the military to the extent that the Axis of Evil's Pearl Harbor II will be successful.

By the time 2012 comes around, Hawaii will likely be part of Hussein's Indonesian homeland, repopulated with Mosques and madrassas.

I suspect the seed of this idea comes from a reporter or campaign operative who was freezing their butt off in Iowa or New Hampshire.

Of course I would suggest that the partys hold a random draw for the first primaries. Say you draw on 1/1 and hold the primary on 3/1. It would effectively shorten the whole campaign as the initial state wouldn't be known until 2 months before the primary.
