Hillary Clinton Debates Poorly, Needs Money

The lede in this story in The Hill is amusing:

Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton’s (D-N.Y.) top advisers, doing damage control after the candidate’s debate performance Tuesday, told supporters on a conference call Wednesday that the campaign needed more money to fight back.

For one thing, she’s raising record sums of money; if she can’t manage to defend herself within her budget, she’ll be a monumental failure as a chief executive. For another, how will more money help her perform better in the debates?

For the record, I still think she’ll win the nomination going away given that none of her opponents are exactly knocking anyone’s socks off.

As a liberal friend pointed out when we were comparing campaign contribution pleas from the left and right, the common factor in all of them are two fold. 1) send money, 2) the time to send money now is never more crucial even if a similar plea a couple of weeks ago or that you will get a similar "the time is now" plea in a couple of weeks.

The begging for money is only dependant on how much they have raised based on that funding them begging for more.

Last night was the first debate of any party that I have watched. Just caught it by surfing through the channels when Russert was hitting Ms. Bill Clinton with some tough questions. I actually thought to myself, is this the same Russert who use to shuck and jive, grim and slobber, droll and breathe hard when Ms. Bill Clinton graced him with her appearance on "Meet the Press," or whatever his hour or political pandering was called.

Ms. Bill Clinton's problem has been exposed, when not protected by her by her handlers, holding her up by each elbow, showing up in pre-screened, make-believe public appearances , she stumbles, bumbles, as any politician would do when she tries to be all things to all people.
If you try to stand for everything, in the end you stand for nothing......

And Russert, good for you, have not watched you in years, but at least you showed that at least there is one journalist out there with bigger balls than Ms. Bill Clinton.
