I mean if they are trying to protect tender, sensitive eyes, surely "gay" is the better word, as at least in that case they could pretend it just means "happy" rather than reminding everyone that sex is involved and all that!

Ah, but we wouldn't want to give the idea that gay sex can make people happy!

What I find interesting as well is that this group finds the word "gay" more upsetting than "homosexual" which, after all has sex in it. You should try to read many of the childrens literature to an elementary school class -this stuff has corrupted our culture - we should attack the destruction, manipulation, or creation of language for political purposes as being what it is. (not eliminate it - just attack it for what it is and the media should stay objective and not use language prefered by one side of a debate as the norm)
