Intel Dump Reading List

Phillip Carter was not a supporter of this war but didn’t hesitate to do his duty when he was called up from the Reserves. And, in the finest traditions of the soldier-scholar, he did a little bit more:

I’ve tried to read as much as possible about Iraq, Islam, America’s experience here, counterinsurgency, and other related topics so that I might better understand what we’re doing here. This list is biased towards books written for the popular audience, as opposed to scholarly tomes, because those are the books I’ve heard about and had recommended to me. It’s not comprehensive by any stretch of the imagination, but it has given me some much-needed context for what we’re doing here.

A precis of the first several books is at the link. More will follow.
