 Outside the Beltway

IT AIN’T A BOBBLEHEAD, BUT . . .

The president has his own action figure: Elite Force Aviator: George W. Bush - U.S. President and Naval Aviator.

(Hat tip: John Constantine)

Actually, there is a bobblehead. And it’s cheaper.

My bro-in-law gave me a George W. Bush bobblehead doll for Christmas last year. I treasure it. ;) It's not the one you link to and I think mine actually looks a little more like the real W.

Ironically, it was George H.W. Bush who was the naval aviator...George W. was Air National Guard (he flew F-102s, as I recall).

Well, he was all set to do the carrier landing by himself with an F/A 18 (until the Secret Services over-ride that decision).

I really doubt the option of the CiC landing ANY aircraft, much less an FA-18 (which, presumably, would have been of the two-seater variety) on the carrier ever came up for serious discussion. Landing on a carrier, even in relatively placid seas, is an exceedingly complex task--well beyond the capabilities of someone who hadn't been trained (either on carrier landing procedures or on the aircraft type) and hadn't flown a high-performance fighter in 30 years. You don't risk the President, the lives of several dozen (at least) others, and the destruction of an aircraft on that sort of whim.
