IT BEATS BUTCHER, BAKER, CANDLESTICK MAKER
George Will analyzes recent trends in San Francisco and argues that even in the U.S. city demographically most hospitable to Howard Dean-style leftism, moderation is winning out. I’m not sure I’m sold, but it’s worth a read.
What really struck me was this description of the new mayor’s wife:
. . . described as a prosecutor, television legal analyst and “former lingerie model.”
There’s a combination you don’t see every day!

Will's correlation between Newsom's election and Dean's Iowa implosion seems a bit forced and torturous.
But hey, that's just my opinion.
James, you are wrong. That combination is frequent on Fox News!
What George Will describes in San Francisco is hardly what I'd call a victory for moderation. It's just a somewhat less extreme form of leftism.
I was kind of hoping for the Green party candidate Gonzalez to win, though, if for no other reason than as an example to others when his programs proved to be disastrous. The far left would have learned nothing from the experiment - real world results seem to mean little to them - but others may have learned a valuable lesson.
