Ken Mehlman Election Day Conference Call

GOP.com hosted a blogger conference call with Republican National Committee chairman Ken Mehlman. Some highlights from the opening remarks:
- Very high turnout in Virginia in Republican districts.
- 4/10 people in Tennessee are voting absentee, with the Republicans having a huge lead.
- 2004 Democratic voter guide “If there is no fraud, allege it.” Intimidating poll workers in Florida and Ohio.
- Exit polls overstate Democratic vote because they oversample metro areas and undersample rural areas.
Q&A: A couple of good questions but nothing particularly illuminating about the responses. Mostly, people are asking for predictions in close races which, of course, Mehlman has no great insights into.
In response to John Little (Blogs of War), Mehlman conceded that the party is rather stagnant, having lost its momentum as a party of reform, citing a recent Fred Barnes piece.
UPDATE: In the spirit of bipartisanship, Steve Benen and Ezra Klein endorse Barnes’ platform, too.

Ken mehlman asked for a paper ballot this morning...that should make you feel safe about your vote!
Does anyone know of a citation for the third bullet point? Google turns up nothing.
