Well, I understand GHW made some embarrassing comments, but they were all concerning policy. He attacked economics, foreign policy, etc. He never attacked the fundamentals of being effective.

Kerry basically said Edwards did not have the basic skills to perform in a presidential role where Bush said Reagan was going the wrong way. I think that's a fundamental difference.

Kerry seems willing to say or do anything to get into office to me. He makes his attacks personal. I don't like it. The Cons do it as well, but I just don't see it done with the same frequency or the same personal fervor as Kerry seems to take in it.

Are we ever going to get a third party super-candidate that can break this country out of the simple two-minded system it currently has? I'm truly sick of both of them. They seem like two sides of a rail line to me. Doesn't matter which one has the main load, we still go in the same direction.

A very good choice, perhaps not surprising. He helps in the South, obviously, but he plays well everywhere -- a charismatic populist aside Kerry's stiff Eastern Establishment figure. The experience issue is blunted by Bush's inexperience when he took office, and Edwards served on the Senate Intelligence Committee.

Give credit to Kerry for going in a different direction than Bush, another Eastern Establishment figure.

Sorry about the double post. I like Edwards, but not that much. Did you see the New York Post today? If it amuses you, check out www.mediamatters.org. You can get a daily dose of that kind of big error by Murdoch's guys at Fox.

Kerry isn't running against GWB as-he-was-in-2000. He's running against GWB now: the incumbent, and the Commander-in-Chief.

I'm also not so sure most people see GWB as an "Eastern Establishment" figure; I think being Governor of Texas helped there . . .

Edwards is the Pick
CNN is reporting at 6:45am CST that John Edwards is the selection of John Kerry to be his vice presidential candidate. It appears that NBC News is the one who broke the story first. UP

John Edwards have made his decision. John Edwards will be the man joining his ticket. Edwards is "a champion for middle class Americans, and for those struggling to reach the middle class," Kerry told cheering supporters in Pittsburgh. "Throughout this
