Garth Brooks covers Kiss’ “Hard Luck Woman,” with Kiss doing the instrumentals, on “The Tonight Show” on July 13, 1994. A much better version than the original, to my tastes anyway, owing to the fact that, unlike Peter Criss, Brooks can actually carry a tune.

This is clearly one of those songs that sounds better than it reads.

Nah. I grew up in rough geographic and temporal proximity with him (Garth). (We were born 60 miles and one year apart and we attended Oklahoma State Univ. at the same time. I never knew him). As I recall, everyone I knew was more or less equally conversant with Zeppelin, Sabbath, Kiss, Aerosmith, etc as well as Waylon, Willie, Haggard, Charlie Daniels, Moe Bandy and Conway Twitty.
Just a Cultural thing I guess.
I like it.
It's fusion. And only underscores the universality of a good song.
