LIMBAUGH TO RETURN

Rush Limbaugh has announced he will return to hosting his syndicated talk show Monday. No word yet on whether any criminal charges will be filed related to apparent illegalities associated with his prescription drug addiction.

About the Author: James Joyner is the publisher of Outside the Beltway and the managing editor of the Atlantic Council. He's a former Army officer, Desert Storm vet, and college professor with a PhD in political science from The University of Alabama. He lives just outside the Beltway in Alexandria, Virginia with his wife and infant daughter.

Criminal charges are unlikely in the extreme. Limbaugh was under the radar until the NE article.
There are a lot of obstacles to prosecution, not least the fact that we have to catch the addict in possession of the drugs. There's no law against being an addict. It's not like he'd have kept his stash after that story broke. His father, grandfather and brother, all lawyers.
It's in the future that Limbaugh is vulnerable, he's on the radar now. Plus I'm sure that his employers will require periodic drug testing.
The people hoping for Limbaugh's fall can take satisfaction that he's got one of the hardest problems there is to beat. He's addicted to pain meds while he still has the pain requiring the meds.
