Well if Lou was planning on running he should have already thrown his hat into the race. I doubt seriously that he will run in 08. That doesn't mean he doesn't have other election goals for the future. Perhaps he will move in James's district and run for senator? ;)

It isn't to hard to imagine him talking up the idea as part of promoting the book tour. Whose book is more likely to sell well? Potential 2008 independent candidate or CNN 'nativist windbag'?

Same person, different return on investment.

All that said, I think someone is going to step in to the green or unity08 party slot. The real question is if they will be able to pull enough votes to sink one or the other party candidates and thus 'throw' the election.
