Mainstream Media Discovers Blogs, Again

The Chicago Tribune discovers that Richard Posner, a judge on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 7th Circuit and Nobel prize-winning economist Gary Becker have a blog.

Steve Bainbridge finds the piece “Fascinating.” Will Baude, though, shares my reaction: “I wonder when blogs will normalize enough that these stories stop, or when blogs will begin countering with long and flattering stories about these regional papers that more people should know about.”

About the Author: James Joyner is the publisher of Outside the Beltway and the managing editor of the Atlantic Council. He's a former Army officer, Desert Storm vet, and college professor with a PhD in political science from The University of Alabama. He lives just outside the Beltway in Alexandria, Virginia.

If I might quote a colleague from a listserv just yesterday:
"Personally the whole blog craze has been driving me crazy. Aside from the fact that the name lacks a certain I don't know what, I just don't get all the hype. Who has time to sit around all day blogging away."

When you get rid of that attitude among media educators, you might stop getting those stories.
