Matthews Drops F-Bomb on Imus

Hardball’s Chris Matthews apparently is not fond of ranchers but loves Rudy Giuliani. He got a little carried away on the Imus show this morning expressing his views on the matter:

We love good mayors because we love our cities and Giuliani is the city guy, and I’m so sick of southern guys with ranches running this country. I want a guy to run for president who doesn’t have a f^@&ing — I’m sorry, a ranch. Wouldn’t that be good, Don, a guy who wasn’t on the ranch during Katrina, he was on the street corner answering questions?

For months the only two words I heard Chris Matthews (no relation) mention were Hiillary Clinton. For a man with a show named "Hardball", he needs a new pitch and one outburst doesn't qualify.

Oh, good. Tell us *more* reasons not to vote for Giuliani. As if the support of Chris Matthews didn't suffice.

Definition of "insular East Coaster": one who thinks the obvious 2008 matchup is Hillary v. Rudy.

Doesn't Imus have a ranch? Way to insult your host, and "southerners" Clinton, and Carter, and the ranch owning southern voters, and...
...all for the benefit of a jab at the current President. Truly a softball performance.

Doesn’t Imus have a ranch?

Heh. I didn't think of that, although Imus didn't seem offended. Then again, he's great at goading guests into letting loose.

Matthews is complete idiot. Although I agree with him that Bush's "ranching" persona is utterly stupid and unconvincing and that cities have been given short-shrift over the past 30 years, or so, by the feds, to portray Giuliani as some sort of New York working stiff is way off base.

I am not sure if Giuliani even LIVES in New York anymore. After his term as mayor ended he moved out of city-owned Gracie Mansion into an apartment with two gay friends of his.

After he married for the third time [to a woman who happened to NOT be his cousin unlike his first wife], he and his wife bought a $3 million estate in the Hamptons and a half-million condo in Palm Beach.

Interestingly, his website doesn't say where he lives.

Is the FCC already getting astroturf complaints?
