Merry Christmas from Aruba

Happy Holidays Bucuti Merry Christmas!

We’ve been up and about for a few hours already, owing to Aruba’s practice of not observing Daylight Savings Time and being therefore one hour ahead of Eastern Time, despite being similarly situated latitudinally longitudinally.

I suspect few are reading political blogs today and even fewer are writing on them. My guess it that I won’t be posting again today but I’ll be getting back into the swing of things soon enough.

About the Author: James Joyner is the publisher of Outside the Beltway and the managing editor of the Atlantic Council. He's a former Army officer, Desert Storm vet, and college professor with a PhD in political science from The University of Alabama. He lives just outside the Beltway in Alexandria, Virginia with his wife and infant daughter.

I'm glad you didn't say "nobody is reading political blogs today." I might have gotten offended. :)

Enjoy your stay!

...despite being similarly situated latitudinally.

To "pick a nit," I suspect you meant "similarly situated longitudinally." You are at a considerably more southern latitude, but at about the same longitude. Being further south during the winter does, however, make sunrise a bit earlier (during the summer it makes it later).

Anyway, Merry Christmas to you.

James,

This time of year not observing Daylight Savings Time doesn't mean a dang thing, since nobody observes DST during the Winter.

I wish I was down in Aruba Right now. It is a beautiful Island and has a great Golf Course, though the wind tends to push the golf ball around a lot.
Have a Amstel Bright for me.
