James:

I agree with your post.

Ken, DL and Bryan:

Just because your minds are made up doesn't mean 50 Senators, a Vice President and a President agree with you. In the last analysis, that's all that matters.

If the nominee is not scintillating in the hearing her nomination is doomed, but it really should make for entertaining CSPAN and blogging.

Do you think the font size in your trackback list could be any smaller? Does the miniscule size in relation to your own post and the comments thereto relate to the importance you give to the sites that write about you? Please don't tell me you are one of the paranoid brigade that worry about your readers going elsewhere...LOL!!!

Man I hate agreeing with Chuck Schumer but he is absolutely right about the Miers nomination. He does not believe she has the votes to be confirmed. She would have to give an outstanding presentation at the hearings to change that and I do not believ...

The major problem I see with Miers nomination is that if confirmed she will add nothing to the Supreme Courts discussions. She is just not smart enough to hold her own intellectually with the other justices. So she will be essentially just another vote for whoever she is closest too.

In other words, instead of being an independent voiece on the Court she will be just a weak echo of another..

It is a shame to waste one of nine positions on a person like that.

Some of the worse professionals did shine in their college oral exams. Waiting till the hearings are over won't insure a thing! There are out there, many who have proven they can handle the job!

George, when you get home from the boot store and the bold newly selected pair of boots doesn't fit as well as you thought, and the family, the friends, and the horses are laughing at the style, it's time to take them back to the store and get a pair you know will work!

I'm sorry, but Hewitt has come off as nothing more than a Republican party shill in this whole episode. While he may be a great guy, he's showing a tremendous blind spot on this issue. Beldar seems more reasoned, but no less convincing.
