Romney is not that smart a businessman. If he stays in, it is just out of spite, and spending that kind of money is stupid. But I suspect he will stay in just to cause havoc. He is not a patriot, he is a scoundral who can financially afford a temper tantrum, while the rest of the country faces economic catastrophe. He should get out know and get a real job, or join the military and see what life is all about.

Well, there is that... Still, don't people that rich just live off the interest? Taking 10 percent or more off that top (I'm figuring it'll take another $10M at least to keep fighting) makes that harder, no?

I'm not trying to insinuate that he hasn't earned the money, just that others might have an interest in him not spending it foolishly. Massachusetts is an Equitable Distribution State, wherein "All property, no matter how or when acquired, is considered marital property." Beyond the legalities, though, one presumes Romney has an interest in making sure his family continues to live in the lifestyle to which they've become accustomed.
