Currently on Nancy Pelosi’s website:
It’s nice that Pelosi supports veterans and all but couldn’t she find a photo of an American veteran?
Bruce McQuain suggests that this “again points out how very little the Democrats know about our military. This is simply basic stuff, but apparently not something any of Pelosi’s staffers could be bothered to check out or most likely would know anyway.”
Now, frankly, I doubt most Republican staffers, let alone the ones putting together Flash graphics for Web sites, would have spotted the gaffe, either. Still, it’s embarrassing that no one who took part in what one would presume is a fairly thorough vetting process for the most prominent part of the Speaker of the House’s web page would have caught it.
Or, for that matter, that they haven’t at least paid enough attention to take it down two hours after Bruce’s post.

Having worked in a number of different organizations of various types, including companies, I'm not at all surprised. Most organizations aren't very receptive to upwards information flow of this kind.
I wouldn't be at all surprised if someone down the line said, "Hey, we should make sure that this is an American vet", but then saw their concern given little priority and subsequently ignored/forgotten.
Awe hell, why not fund the Canadians too. Surely there is enough pork somewhere that won't be missed.
I guess this "controversy" is a way of diverting attention from the Bush admin's shabby treatment of vets. If political points are more important then supporting the troops in reality and not in fantasy land, by all means, lets have at it...

James, Perhaps this post needs the "Humor" tag?
Honestly, I think polticians and their web designers (because I think we can agree that it is unlikely Pelosi herself had anything to do with the graphic displayed) should be careful of what they post.
I think this was picture posted in ignorance and with little care to getting it right-it is one of the gaffs that hurts on the PR front.
Clearly, this demonstrates that Pelosi hates America [/Q and O]

Sorry if my concern for how vets are treated in the world touches a nerve on the right. Guess it is not a "fun" subject. Its easy to see why its a sore spot.
In all fairness, people make mistakes. This mistake has nothing to do with Pelosi's positions or legislative agenda.

Stick to the topic rather than turn everything into a Bush rant and people will be more patient.
This is an easy mistake to make. It's not like these uniforms are labeled or anything.

My post may be off topic, but not, I think, Irrelevant. Using essentially meaningless stories such as this to change the focus of attention and take the spotlight off of more important is something that Rove has mastered, and there has been a lot of trickle down.
Watch how quickly the Natalee Holloway story reappears on the fox.com hompage the next time Bush has a really bad news day...
