With the Raich decision it is pretty clear the federal government has carte blanche to force the states do about anything the feds want.

I find this to be an extraordianarily dangerous state of affairs.

Furthermore it completely knocks down one of the pillars of governance in this nation (federalism) and leads to an ever larger ever more unresponsive federal government.

Real ID will be another bloated federal program that will have the hallmarks of many government programs to fight crime / terror / drugs. It will provide lots of expensive hoops for the states to jump through, it will inconvenience ordinary citizens, it will bloat and be used for purposes it was never intended, and it will be ineffective in doing what it was supposed to do.

Don't forget most of the 9/11 attackers were here with legal visas. And the Yale taliban students was allowed in by Homeland security not to long ago.

I submit if DHS can't notice the taliban spokesman is applying for a visa the real ID act has absolutely zero chance of being effective at preventing terror attacks or other crimminal activity.
