News Channel Priorities
Steven Taylor reports on what the major 24-hour news channels were covering yesterday evening:
CNN was covering the [Miami terrorist] arrests.
Fox was talking about Natalie Holloway(!). (Is Greta addicted to that story, or what?)
MSNBC had an interview Bo Bice from American Idol. (!!)
If one were to rank the stories in order of importance, I’d say that’s it: Terrorists, crime with pop culture twist, pure pop culture.
One wonders what the ratings were, however? I wouldn’t be the least bit surprised to see them be in reverse order. Surely, Fox wouldn’t let Greta harp on that story every night for what seems like five years now if people weren’t tuning in.
There was a time, not very many years ago, when I was watching news channels every night unless there was a game on. Now, unless there’s a presidential address on, I never watch. Indeed, the last time I watched CNN at home, I was on it.

You narcissist.

Ditto. The Internet has made TV news redundant -- I can absorb all the pop culture I can stand just by reading comment threads, and I get coverage of, and a variety of commentary on, actual news!
And because it is the Internet, everybody knows 99% of it is bull anyway (more on some sites than others, of course).
