 Outside the Beltway

NORM-AL DISTRIBUTION

Norman Geras is taking a page out of John Hawkin’s book. He is conducting a poll of the Top 15 Country Music Stars of all time for which he’s soliciting e-mailed answers. I’ll compile and send mine later.

He also remarks on a poll for the Best German of All Time (run by The Guardian of all places).

Update (1600): My entrants, in no particular order. I’m likely forgetting somebody I like.

OK, I try to just lurk but: Garth Brooks? That's not music, that's advertising.

Heh. I didn't like the Chris Gaines thing and the last album was pretty mediocre. But he's arguably one of the two or three most important figures in country music history. He put country back into the mainstream in the 1990s and was the first nationwide cross-over act that played traditional country.
