Normally I Don’t Agree with Greenpeace, but…

dropping a 20 ton dead whale on the door step of the Japanese Embassy in Berlin strikes me as the right action. Don’t get me wrong, I love cheeseburgers, bacon, and fried chicken. I have no problems with killing and consuming (after proper preperation and cooking) cows, pigs, chickens and many other animals. But whales just don’t strike me as something we should be eating.

Don't say that to an Inuit. You might be accused of attempting to restrict the rights of Native Americans or even of genocide.

Maybe if you just got more people to eat it the demand would go down. The blubber is very chewy. You just chew and chew and chew on it and it doesn't go away. The meat tastes like beef, which isn't surprising since it is a mammal. Once you take the mistique out of it, there wouldn't be a problem with people not consuming it since there is nothing special about it.

However, due to cultural snobs like the writer of this post who think they should make decisions what the rest of the world should eat, I make sure to get a big plate of it each time I am in Japan - along with a big side of horse.

Director Mitch,

They're not called sea cows in some cultures for no reason. You're right about blubber, it's terrible.

I agree. When they figure out how to farm whales, maybe I'll change my mind.

Wow, a little cultural relativism from Director Mitch. Whodathunkit.
