If it hasn't already, this should put to bed any ideas that the drug laws in this country will be reformed anytime soon.

The Family Obesity Prevention and Fat Control Act also allows the FDA to lower the amount of addiction-causing fat and sugar in food products and block misleading labels such as “low fat” and “light.” Food companies also will be required to cover their cartons with large graphic warnings. (DON'T EAT THIS OR YOU WILL BECOME FAT AND DIE A SLOW, HORRIBLE DEATH!! WORSE, YOU COULD BECOME UNPOPULAR AT SCHOOL!!!!) The law won’t let the FDA ban fat or sugar outright. (Yeah......sure.)

I'm sure those unspiced hot dogs, burgers and McNuggets will be just awesome and have the kids clamoring for that fat free Happy Meal. "I'm Lovin' It.......like cardboard !!"

The new law bans candy and fruit flavors in tobacco products

This is rather troubling, and in my opinion goes beyond the mandate of the FDA. This rule doesn't keep people safe, it just makes a legal product less attractive to a certain demographic. Are they going to outlaw wine coolers next?

(A) SPECIAL RULE FOR CIGARETTES- Beginning 3 months after the date of enactment of the Family Smoking Prevention and Tobacco Control Act, a cigarette or any of its component parts (including the tobacco, filter, or paper) shall not contain, as a constituent (including a smoke constituent) or additive, an artificial or natural flavor (other than tobacco or menthol) or an herb or spice, including strawberry, grape, orange, clove, cinnamon, pineapple, vanilla, coconut, licorice, cocoa, chocolate, cherry, or coffee, that is a characterizing flavor of the tobacco product or tobacco smoke.
