Campaigns are somewhat disorganized at times and it seems the McCain campaign messed up a little but that doesn't make McCain erratic.

"somewhat disorganized"? Any fair observer of the McCain campaign would have to conclude that it has lurched from one position to the next. And who do you think makes the final decision on the direction of the campaign? What you call a bit of "showmanship" struck most observers as impulsive, i.e., erratic. Then there was, as I pointed out, the appearance at the first debate that he wasn't going to go to because.... Then there was the abrupt pulling out of Michigan that caught Palin by surprise. Then there was the "let's demonize Obama for his associations" and the, all too predictable, nosedive in the polls and the increase in McCain's unfavorables, followed by the attempt by McCain to get off the back of the tiger he'd unleashed. Steve, if all this doesn't strike you as flailing, that is to say, erratic, then we'll just have to agree to disagree.

But Steve, Obama didn't "drop everything" and "suspend his campaign" to rush back to Washinton and do nothing, right? Oh yeah, McCain didn't rush back to Washington--first he stiffed Letterman, then he went on Katie Couric's show, then he "dropped everything" and "suspended his campaign" and sorta rushed back to Washington to do nothing. I mean, c'mon, I think even you'll have to agree that turned out to be a WTF? moment in McCain's campaign, right? Followed, of course, by his appearance at the debate that he said he wouldn't appear at because he had to "drop everything" and "suspend his campaign" and .... And you wonder why some think the man is erratic?

The leak has accomplished what it was intended to do, start people talking about Obama without actually giving any facts. The same game plan, lots of general platitudes, no specifics, no substance.
