Obama Hires Facebook Founder Hughes

Hotline reports that Facebook co-founder Chris Hughes has been blogging on Barack Obama’s site and has “joined Obama’s camp full-time as New Media staff.” Their headline writing wag wonders, “Can This End The ‘Who’s Winning On Facebook’ Debate Once And For All?”
I’ve been on Facebook for a few weeks and find it interesting. I haven’t figured out how one would leverage it, let alone MySpace, to much advantage in a political campaign. Then again, hiring the guy who created it strikes me as a smart move.

It's probably the best tool for mobilizing college students since fear of the draft. And even before this, Obama was rocking it -- his support group has something like 500K members.
