Obama the Socialist Anti-Christ

The top entry pages at OTB over the last hour, by a longshot, are Barack Obama the Socialist, Obama the Antichrist?, and Left Behind Authors Say Obama Is Not the Antichrist.  (Also getting a lot of entries, likely through the vagaries of search engine rankings, Primary Popular Vote Totals.)

Apparently, neither John McCain’s gracious concession speech nor Barack Obama’s stirring words about national unity have not yet dispelled all concerns about the president-elect.

Gosh, who could ever have predicted that riling up the worst elements of your party with Palin’s nonsense could ever have turned out this way? (Also see the folks who were at McCain’s concession speech).

Hope you’re happy with your team. Good luck there.

  2. Bithead says:

Apparently, neither John McCain’s gracious concession speech nor Barack Obama’s stirring words about national unity have not yet dispelled all concerns about the president-elect.

    And why should they?

  3. Michael says:

Obama’s most difficult task now, it seems, may be surviving until inauguration. His Secret Service detail will be very busy.

    And why should they?

I think James was referring to illogical concerns, like Obama being the anti-Christ, or a terrorist loving socialist Muslim.

Jesus, but’s that a saddening thought. Saddening, but all too accurate, I think.

  5. Wayne says:

Let’s treat Obama in the same manner the liberals have treated Bush.

  6. Billy says:

Let’s treat Obama in the same manner the liberals have treated Bush.

You mean give him a chance to govern, and unite behind him in a time of crisis? That’s how the first year went (notwithstanding the hatchet job Bush had already engaged in with regard to governance).

  7. Jim Henley says:

James, the Left Behind authors are clearly wrong about Obama not being the Antichrist, as I can demonstrate using science.

    1) Pam Atlas has proven that Obama is the illegitimate “love child” of Malcolm X.

    2) Malcolm X was assassinated in 1965. Clearly, we must place him on the “Obama Death List” (Google is your friend) until proven otherwise. Cui bono? is our guiding principle here.

    3) But Obama was only 4 years old when Malcolm was killed. What kind of pre-schooler can pull off cold-blooded murder?

    4) Obvious answer: Damien, in the first Omen movie.

    5) Damien was the Antichrist, people!

    6) Wake up America! Science demands no less!

  8. James Joyner says:

    A compelling case, Jim.

  9. Wayne says:

“That’s how the first year went”

What a revisionist history. Bush had no honeymoon period. The Senate refused to vote on a large % of his cabinet nominees. He was accused of stealing the election. How about all that intimidation, voter over registration and kicking out GOP observers? Bush was called an idiot and Hitler from the get go. He was responsible for all the bad legislation and policies that were past before he became President. Any “ah” and mispronunciation was evidence he is an idiot. The vandalizing of government offices from the outgoing administration. After 911 the was a “very brief” uniting behind him but after that Dems did all they could to undermine his efforts.

  10. anjin-san says:

Let’s treat Obama in the same manner the liberals have treated Bush.

I voted for Bush and generally supported him up to the time of the Iraq war.

  11. Jim Henley says:

Wayne reminds me of a point I forgot to make before:

    HAH HAH HAH! LUZERZ!!!!1!!1!ELEVEN!!!

  12. Steve Plunk says:

Rather than pay attention to the loons perhaps we should pay attention to the adults out there who realize Obama has won the election, he will govern as a liberal, it’s a conservatives responsibility to oppose any part of his agenda they find objectionable through the political process, and there will be another election in four years.

Except for a very small number of the rabid fringe most of us accept the results of this election without question and understand it is something of a mandate for Obama’s policies. I would even go so far as to expect conservatives and Republicans to be much better behaved than liberals in this situation.

Obama is our president and as such deserves the respect associated with the office.

  13. anjin-san says:

Wayne you don’t seem to think much of liberals… why then do you want to imitate what you see as an injustice done by them?

Why not be a bigger man and root for Obama to succeed? Is tit for tat more important to you than the future of the country?

  14. Billy says:

Senate refused to vote on a large % of his cabinet nominees.

Hey Wayne – remind me again who controlled the Senate prior to May 24, 2001?

  15. Drew says:

    Steve Plunk –

Your comments are correct and well taken, with one exception IMHO. You say: “and understand it is something of a mandate for Obama’s policies.”

I’m not sure this was “mandate” material, as his policies are so little understood by the electorate, as demonstrated in countless man on the street interviews. It seems more of a cult of personality election.

Also, heard on a Goldman Sachs conference call this morning re: the economy and Obama. The view is that he will not raise the cap gains tax until after 2010 given economic realities. A fascinating implicit point that such tax policies have deleterious effects on the economy.

  16. Grewgills says:

Bush was called an idiot and Hitler from the get go.

No, that came later and only by the fringe. Do you just want to put yourself ahead of the curve?
“The vandalizing of government offices from the outgoing administration.”
Do you really still believe that nonsense, or did you just want to fill your post a bit?
“After 911 the was a “very brief” uniting behind him”
Up until what event did that uniting period last?

And to repeat Billy’s point, who controlled the Senate then?

    Grow up.

  17. Wayne says:

    Billy
It was the Democrat’s filibuster that prevented the votes. Typical lib refusing to take responsibility for their actions. Also are you saying if the Republicans filibuster a large % Obama’s nominations that you will consider it the Dems fault since they control the Senate?

    Anjin
I haven’t done anything yet. You on the other hand have no room to talk. Where was your “bigger man” and “future of the country” attitude before?

  18. Steve Plunk says:

    Drew,

I agree with you, voters actually knew little about his policies before throwing their support behind him. I qualified the mandate as “something of” since the election was relatively close and congress still somewhat equally divided. Yet election matter and the country has chosen a leader who will move us to the left (which I find disastrous). It’s interesting that it took promises of tax cuts for a left leaner to get enough support to be elected. We’ll see if they happen as promised.

  19. Wayne says:

The taking off of the “W” from keyboards and moving phones around were just made up stories? Right. Bush was treated with open arms. Right.

If the Republicans control congress the Democrats and MSM can do whatever they want and not be responsible for their actions. Right.
To pretend the liberals and democrats receive Bush with open arms is a lie. Many democratic politicians and individuals did very much the opposite. Pretending by pointing to a concession speech or such is being dishonest.

Since we starting with the insults. Grewgills you are being dishonest, need to grow up and get a clue.

  20. Billy says:

Wayne – your irrational anger is delicious. You deserve every bit of it.

  21. Davebo says:

The taking off of the “W” from keyboards and moving phones around were just made up stories? Right.

    Yes

  22. bacteriocentric says:

First time on this site while seeking more info on Ted Stevens convicted senator re-elect.
It is sad that republicans commenting on this blog are still so out of touch. As in Alaska, they obviously believe that stealing ain’t cheating, jury convicted or not. It is precisely this type of conservative value system that has gotten us in the the world and economic mess we are in today.
Wake up all you conservative fools and stop putting your personal value system above your children and future of humanity!
Just because Bush was (and still is) a idiotic puppet for the neo-conservative value system, doesn’t mean we have to hold a torch for him. Its time has finally come where we get a president who can speak from his heart, not just read the teleprompter as prepared by others.

  23. Wayne says:

“Wayne – your irrational anger is delicious. You deserve every bit of it.”

You make me sound like a liberal which was my point from the get go.

It drew out the idiots who like to make the excuse of “who controlled the Senate then”. Then there are those who all of the sudden think “let’s think of the country and get behind the President” when they have a history of just the opposite. I believe most conservatives will give Obama a chance but think it is hypocritical for many on the left to ask for it when they did not do the same. That said, there is a point that turning the other cheek becomes asinine.

  24. brigitta says:

Wayne, I wonder if Jesus would think turning the other cheek becomes asinine after awhile. I didn’t think W was an idiot because he stammered. No, but this had something to do with it:
    “Is our children learning?”
Furthermore, I really tried to get behind Bush after 9/11, and being from TX, I’d disliked the man since he first ran for Governor. I tried, though. He failed. Not me….him.

  25. Wayne says:

If you want to bring Jesus into this, I’m sure Jesus didn’t “dislike” anyone. Also there are examples of God finally tiring of turning the other cheek and taking action. Turning the other cheek is admirable and courageous to a point. After that it becomes cowardly and can result in allowing evil and/or injustice to flourish.

  26. Michael says:

If you want to bring Jesus into this, I’m sure Jesus didn’t “dislike” anyone. Also there are examples of God finally tiring of turning the other cheek and taking action. Right, the 491st time you do it, then you’re suddenly a coward.

  27. Billy says:

Michael, you missed the Sunday where they taught “turn the other cheek until you get sick of it, then bomb the sh*t out of them.”

  28. Michael says:

Michael, you missed the Sunday where they taught “turn the other cheek until you get sick of it, then bomb the sh*t out of them.”

I don’t remember that parable. Perhaps Wayne’s church uses a different Bible than mine.

  29. Wayne says:

When the Nazis killed the first Jew and invade the first country and other countries turn the other cheek, it may have been in the hope to not escalate the violence and that it would end. After the Nazis killed millions and invading several countries, those that took no action did it out of fear not in the attempt to avoid further violence.

If you can’t understand the difference between someone turning the other cheek out of fear instead of in an attempt to avoid escalation or to end the coonflict, then there is not much hope for you.

  30. Wayne says:

Billy and Michael you obviously misunderstand the teaching of turning the other cheek. For being such fans of turning the other cheek, you both sure don’t practice it.

  31. Wayne says:

Oh that’s right, the right is supposed to turn the other cheek but the left is supposed to fight back.

  32. Michael says:

Billy and Michael you obviously misunderstand the teaching of turning the other cheek. For being such fans of turning the other cheek, you both sure don’t practice it.

Guys we are turning the page on the Bush years. I like to argue politics, but I am no longer sure that I see any value in engaging with Wayne, Bit and so on.

Let the people who want to make constructive changes in this country move forward and get to it. Why not let Wayne have his conversation with an echo chamber?

  34. G.A.Phillips says:

I have been praying for Obama to change his heart and use his new status as a roll model on the biggest stage in history, for children of color who can now see the equality of America. How about you guys, you know the ones who like to Cherry pick the bible that you don’t believe in when it suits your needs?

heck, I even stopped spelling his name with a zero.

  35. Xanthippas says:

Let’s treat Obama in the same manner the liberals have treated Bush.

Yes, by not calling him a friend of terrorists, a secret Muslim, a socialist/communist/marxist, or anti-American.

  36. Hal says:

It’s good to see the godless black racist homosexual Marxist terrorist elite in charge as they should be and the god fearing white capitalist angels defending heaven as they should.

    The natural order is restored.

  37. Jim Henley says:

    Well, I agree with Hal.

    Fight the Power!
