Off Air America

Drudge is reporting, in the largest font known to man,

After just two weeks on the air, Air America Radio, the fledgling liberal talk-radio network featuring Al Franken and Janeane Garofalo, appears to have encountered serious cash-flow problems.

The CHICAGO TRIBUNE is developing a story, insiders tell DRUDGE, on how the network was pulled off the air this morning in Chicago and Los Angeles, the network’s second- and third-largest markets, because, the owner of both stations said, the network bounced a check and owes him more than $1 million! A charge the network strongly denies…

A Chicago source familiar with the situation said a Multicultural representative showed up at WNTD’s offices Wednesday morning, kicked out Air America’s lone staffer overseeing the network’s feed to the station from New York, switched over to a Spanish-language feed, and changed the locks on the doors… Developing…

We’ll see how this pans out; I’m not sure how they could go broke this quickly.

Update: Here’s the Tribune story: Liberal radio stations silenced [otbblog/jamesotb].

It's gone now, but Drudge had a link to a Democratic Underground thread discussing the matter. Hi-larious. The moonbats believe it's all a White House plot to silence Franken.

I predicted months ago (though not in comments here) that, should the backroom crowd in the dem party decide that Kerry was going to go down hard, lots of those fabulously fat dem supporter wallets would flap shut at lightning speed.

We'll probably never get a clear accounting of what people like Soros actually deliver as opposed to their widely broadcast pledges, but I'm willing to bet there will be far fewer dollars than all the superheated rhetoric has claimed.

As Granpa used to say "If you want to have a dance, you have to pay the band..." A large check, no matter how pretty and well written, needs to clear the bank in order to be more valuable than the paper it is written on.

Well, no matter what conservatives should be commended: the only way this joke stays afloat is if conservatives call in and start arguments and inflame the situation. This is truly one of those cases where if you ignore it, it will go away.
