Carter on Wiretapping

Ok, I know this is two days after the funeral political rally commemorating exploiting the death of Martin Luther King’s wife for partisan gain, but I wonder if any of our readers can think of an individual who is less qualified to comment on how the American government should deal with Islamic extremism than former president Jimmy Carter.

(Note: the original title of this post was Operation Eagle Carter, a bit-too abstract reference to Operation Eagle Claw — the code name for the failed attempt to rescue the Iranian embassy hostages in 1980.)

Tough call, but I've got to go with Juan Cole.

Carter was actually quite effective in the past. All he had to do was leave office, and we got our hostages right back.

As per your request for other suggestions as to who might be worse than Carter at dealing with Islamic extremists. I suggest William Jefferson Clinton. While Carter was at least as ineffective in opposing the Soviets as he was Islamic radical. Clintons credentials show failure at every turn when dealing with multiple opportunities to courteract Islamic terrorists. One need only review the brilliance of Somalia and the sucessful withdrawal of our forces to understand why I suggest Clinton. While Clinton had far more opportunities to deal with these terrorists, his response never failed to be inaddaquate. Think how the world would look if Osama had just ponied up that 15 million for the new library and NY home.

Algore, if he would have been Prez. on 911, he would have surrendered to china on 912.

I disagree that Clinton would make a candidate. He merely displays the Dem's good-cop/bad-cop approach of playing a State Dept.-run surface game and a police action-run stealth game.

The worst possible person to comment on how our government should deal with Islamic extremism would be CAIR's Executive Director Nihad Awad. Or possibley Louis Farrakhan.

i used to see jimmy carter as sometimes a good man [dr.jekyl] and sometimes a democrat hack[mr. hyde]. it now appears he drank the democrat kool-aid formula once too often, resulting in the untimely death of the jekyl side.too bad his brain and his heart have been eaten by his ego.
