The first time I heard that song was on the Kingston Trio&#039;s first album, &lt;em&gt;Live from the Hungry i&lt;/em&gt;. For the Tokens, it was the B side of a 45 they released, and it&#039;s success caught them by surprise. I heard a bit on NPR a few years ago about the song. Iirc, it was written around 1937 in South Africa by a famous Zulu songwriter. (I just googled it. It was written in 1939. Check out the Wiki page.)</description>
