Paige Davis Profile

AskMen.com has an interesting profile on Paige Davis.

why we like her?

A triple threat as a singer, dancer and actress, Paige Davis is the highlight of TLC’s hugely popular Trading Spaces, and she’s a woman whose beauty and energy cannot be overlooked.

why is she famous?
With a Broadway background, Davis is the host of Trading Spaces, the reality show that gives participants 48 hours to redecorate a room in their neighbors’ homes. Now in its third season, Trading Spaces is a smash hit, with Davis leading the way.

overall rating: 77

The Learning Channel, home of true reality television, often gets little credit for its quality programming. The addition of Paige Davis to one of its top shows finally gave TLC much of the attention it deserved — a testament to Davis’ magnetic personality and showbiz charm. With Davis as host, Trading Spaces’ target demographic soon extended from creative women to eager men, as male channel surfers would put the remote down once they laid eyes on this bubbly beauty.

What separates Davis from her peers is that she is much more than just eye candy. In fact, looking at the other female hosts on other networks, many would say that Davis is overqualified for her job. Her acting prowess in stage productions of Beauty and the Beast and Chicago turned heads and has helped her forge a bright future on stage if she ever decides to return.

personality & talent: 75

Aside from her looks, Paige Davis is best recognized by her energy. A woman who is always on the go, she is often caught doing three things at once when not filming. On Trading Spaces, she is one part objective host, one part counselor and one part interested fan. On or off the camera, Davis wears all hats extremely well. As a happy-go-lucky woman, her goals to have fun and live in the moment translate into a highly likable character.

Davis’ experience on the live stage as an actor, dancer and singer make her one unique host. While her training has made her an acclaimed Broadway actress, her natural gifts as a down-to-earth TV personality remain her most important asset. She can connect with an audience and leave them wanting more — an amazing feat in a show that doesn’t follow a conventional format.

sexiness: 79

With a body that seems to have been carved by the talented carpenters on the show, Paige is a knockout. She is an unassuming hottie, which drives us even wilder. Davis is one girl who does not need any remodeling.

accomplishments & fame: 72

Ever since childhood, Paige Davis’ dream was to become an entertainer. After attending the Meadows School of Arts at Southern Methodist University, she moved to the land of opportunity: Los Angeles. There she was able to land jobs in commercials and videos, while her versatility led her to tour with the Beach Boys.

Her real strengths lay in theater, where she loved to dance and sing. Her big break arrived when she was cast as Babette on the national tour of the Broadway hit, Beauty and the Beast. For two and a half years, Davis fine-tuned her skills and paved the way for a stellar career upon her return home. Roles in stage productions of Chicago (on Broadway), A Chorus Line, Pippin, and Hello, Dolly! ensued.

Through a letter-writing campaign, Davis, with no TV experience, was able to land her best job yet: Host of the underground TLC reality hit, Trading Spaces. Producers of the show were struck with her charisma and hired her in a snap. Though the show was only in its second season when she started (the previous host was Alex McLeod), Davis had an immediate impact and was the driving force behind the show’s quick increase in viewership.

Now in its third season, Trading Spaces is hotter than ever, thanks in part to its spunky host. Already nominated for an Outstanding Non-Fiction Program (Special Class) Emmy in 2002, the show — and Davis, especially — has nowhere to go but up.

natural beauty: 81

With cropped hair and a warm smile, Paige Davis’ charm is infectious. Her years as a dancer have given her an athletic figure worthy of some manly ogling as well. She does not need to be posing against a palm tree in a bikini to look sexy; in fact, just watching her in action helping out the Trading Spaces team is enough to distract any viewer.

personal style: 77

The casual wear that Davis sports on the reality series is anything but ordinary. Whether she’s wearing a simple cotton T-shirt or a more revealing low-cut blouse, and jeans or tight pants, Paige always looks great.

We wish we could have caught her Chicago performance to see how she looks in tights and short sequined dresses, but even with the little liberty Trading Spaces offers in terms of fashion, we have absolutely nothing to complain about.

quote: “I’m kind of a nerd in that I get really excited about things… I love anticipating if they’re going to like their rooms or not.” -Paige Davis, on the excitement of Trading Spaces

biography:

Born in 1970, Mindy Paige Davis and her family moved from Philadelphia to Louisville before her teens. A young gymnast, Davis enjoyed a normal childhood and was inspired to entertain after discovering her mother’s West Side Story album. By the time the record was worn out, she had memorized all the words and could dance to all the songs.

the stage for takeoff

After high school, Davis attended the Meadows School of Arts at Southern Methodist University in Dallas. Following graduation, she moved to Los Angeles to pursue her dream of becoming a performer. She soon landed roles in commercials and music videos, and a dancing gig on tour with the Beach Boys.

Her first major break came in 1997 when she signed on as Babette in the national tour of Beauty and the Beast. For two and a half years she traveled with the cast, which included future husband Patrick Page, who starred as Lumière. Theater work followed on Broadway with a role in Chicago, and on regional productions of A Chorus Line, Pippin, Hello, Dolly!, and more.

a bit of tlc:

A call from a close friend quickly changed Davis’ life. The hugely popular TLC show Trading Spaces was holding auditions for a new host, and her friend thought Davis was a perfect fit. Despite the lack of TV experience, the producers took a liking to the beautiful stage actress and hired her immediately.

Starting out in Trading Spaces’ second season, Davis added life and spunk to the show, in which neighbors have 48 hours to redecorate a room in each other’s homes with the help of professional designers and carpenters, and a budget of $1,000. Originally aimed at women aged 25 to 54, men and children have now taken to the show — for different reasons, of course.

the hostess with the mostess

More than one season later, Trading Spaces is among the top-rated TLC shows and was nominated for an Emmy in the Outstanding Non-Fiction Program (Special Class) category in 2002. Davis has been an invaluable addition not only to Trading Spaces but also to another hit show, A Wedding Story, which aired her nuptials to her actor husband Patrick Page; the episode achieved the highest ratings ever for that program. Note that if Paige were to use her married name, she’d be Paige Page.

Her charismatic personality and beauty make it hard not to love her, and with her television career just beginning, Paige Davis and her fans have a lot to look forward to.

About the Author: Freddy writes about celebrity news for OTB Media. He's especially interested in stories involving hot babes, particularly those caught flashing their nude parts or participating in sex tapes. His favorites are good girls who get a little naughty, like Trading Spaces hostess Paige Davis, naked news anchors Catherine Bosley, Sharon Reed, and Melissa Theuriau. Also, he doesn't care what they say, he very much enjoys seeing Washingtonienne's Jessica Cutler nude. So, she's no Sienna Miller. Like you'd turn it down.
