Pakistan Army Off Osama Hunt?

The Pakistan army said Saturday it will withdraw hundreds of troops from a tense tribal region near Afghanistan where Osama bin Laden and his top deputy were believed to be hiding.
The withdrawals from the South Waziristan area come after several military operations by thousands of troops against remnants of bin Laden’s al Qaeda organization and its supporters in recent months.

The army will remove checkpoints in Wana, the main town in South Waziristan, Lt. Gen. Safdar Hussain, the top general in northwestern Pakistan, said after meeting with tribal elders Friday.
He said the moves are “in return for the support of tribesmen in operations against foreign miscreants.” Some troops will remain in the area, he said.
“We have been assured by tribal elders that they will not allow miscreants to hide in areas under their control,” Hussain said.
It will be interesting to see if this leads to anything other than unrestrained Al Qaeda activity in the area.

Good to know we can count on Bush's "allies"...
Try to contain your glee, Anjin. Osama can't evade capture forever.
Didn't we say the same thing about Pancho Villa?
What glee are you referring to McGehee? I am pissed that Bush's incopetence has allowed bin laden to remain at large to threaten our country. The question is why arn't you?
But hey, you can always feel good about all the people we are killing in Iraq, a nation that posed no threat to us.
The question is why arnât you?
First, because I don't blame it on Bush, as you do.
Second, because the worst bin Laden was able to do ahead of our elections was release a videotape. Real threatening.
Iraq, a nation that posed no threat to us.
More of one than Osama bin Laden now appears to pose.
Well personally. I still want to balance the books with bin laden for 9-11. I guess that, like bush, you have decided to let that slide...
