Two Alabama Children Dead After Car Goes into River

Two Alabama children found in submerged vehicle in river (AP)

Authorities recovered the bodies of two siblings Sunday who were inside their mother’s car when the vehicle went off a highway and into a river. Golfers at a nearby country club rescued the mother, 30-year-old Brandee Skinner, on Saturday morning but could not find the children – a 5-year-old girl, Ashlyn Skinner, and her 18-month-old brother, Bryson Skinner.

Search teams located the submerged BMW on Sunday morning about 300 feet from where it went into the rain-swollen Cahaba River. The children were found about 1:45 p.m. Sunday. Police declined to say whether they were in safety restraints.

Ron Babin of Hoover was in the group that helped rescue Skinner from the river. Babin said they were playing golf nearby when they heard her screams. They found her floating in the middle of the river, and really hysterical, Babin said.

Horrific.
