Religion and Politics
Kevin Drum is baffled by suggestions by some Democrats that President Bush’s invocation of his deity in this week’s press conference on the war is problematic. He correctly notes that every Democratic president since at least FDR has done much the same thing.
Some of our presidents are more deeply religious than others but one has to at least go throught he motions of expressing faith to get elected president. Whether one likes this sort of thing or not, it’s simply a part of our political culture.
