The juxtaposition of Andrew Sullivan’s post “A Nation Of Penny-Pinchers” and Eric Martin’s totally unrelated “Living on Spaghetti, Potatoes, Rice and Beans” in close proximity in my feed reader was rather amusing.
The topics they deal with, ordinary Americans cutting back during hard times and an Israeli blockade of Gaza, alas, are decidedly more sobering.
About the Author: James Joyner is the publisher of Outside the Beltway and the managing editor of the Atlantic Council. He's a former Army officer, Desert Storm vet, and college professor with a PhD in political science from The University of Alabama. He lives just outside the Beltway in Alexandria, Virginia with his wife and infant daughter.
