 Outside the Beltway

Salon.com again looks like it’s

Salon.com again looks like it’s about to go under. Clearly, the idea of charging people for online polticial analysis isn’t catching on. Slate tried it, failed, and went back to being an open forum. Given the vast amount of free information out there, not least of which is the burgeoning blogosphere, why would anyone pay for punditry?

About the Author: James Joyner is the publisher of Outside the Beltway and the managing editor of the Atlantic Council. He's a former Army officer, Desert Storm vet, and college professor with a PhD in political science from The University of Alabama. He lives just outside the Beltway in Alexandria, Virginia.
