Sam Brownback to Withdraw from Race
We’re not going to have Sam Browback to kick around any more.
Republican Sam Brownback will drop out of the 2008 presidential campaign on Friday, people close to the Kansas senator said Thursday. Trouble raising money was a main reason for his decision, said one person close to Brownback, who requested anonymity because the candidate had not yet announced his plans.
Brownback, a lesser-known conservative contender, is expected announce his withdrawal in Topeka, Kan.
The senator is widely expected to seek the Kansas governor’s office in 2010, when his term — his second — expires. He had promised in his first Senate campaign to serve no more than two terms.
I haven’t paid much attention to the Brownback campaign since he obviously was not a significant candidate. The good news for him is that a governorship is a much more promising path to the White House than the Senate.

That may be good news for him, but I do not welcome the prospect of a Governor Brownback. Having him as a Senator is bad enough.
Look at the bright side, Alex. At least you don't have Rod Blagojevich as governor.
I’m not a big Brownback fan. Roberts is much better. Brownback would at least be a better Governor than what we have now.
Colbert in. Brownback out. Coincidence?
