Bloggers Analyzing Alito

Personally, I would rather have seen the president nominate someone that would tear the left apart. A known conservative that is a poster child for the New Republicans. Someone like Judge Janice Rogers Brown. It would have been so entertaining to watch...

We could only be so lucky as to have another Supreme Court Justice in the "mold" of Scalia. If you actually READ his opinions, it seems he is the only one who actually understands the constitution and its INTENDED interpretation.

My God... to think of a world without abortions, what an absurd idea. I mean how will we ever run from our mistakes now? WE MIGHT ACTUALLY HAVE TO FACE OUR PROBLEMS AFTER ALL!! "poor us"

President Bush Nominates Samuel Alito to the Supreme Court

President Bush nominated Samuel Alito to the Supreme Court. Judge Alito was widely reported to be on the short list of possible nominees. Common wisdom is that President Bush's base will strongly support the Alito nomination and most Democratic senators

Geez, J. Robb. With a name like Alito, what do you think his religion is??? Roman Catholic, of course.

I'll bet Roe v Wade will be struck down as soon as his butt hits his chair in the Supreme Court. Any takers???

My own speculation, and admittedly, it is nothing more than that, is that Bush's first choice was always a man, but because it's O'Connor's seat, he had to go through the pretense of nominating an unconfirmable woman first. He might not have known how much opposition the the nomination would spark, but knew all along that she would be stopped by the executive privlege thing. Just an idle thought.
