SECRETARY NEWT?!

I heard on NPR this morning that Secretary of State Colin Powell and his deputy Richard Armitage have informed President Bush that they would be stepping down at the end of the first term. Steven Taylor reports that Newt Gingrich is considered a “dark horse” candidate to replace Powell, although Condi Rice is more likely. I’m hoping the Gingrich balloon is being floated just to make the eventual nominee (assuming a Bush re-election, of course) more palatable.
