Sheehan Considers Challenging Feinstein for Senate

Cindy Sheehan is considering a run for Dianne Feinstein’s Senate seat, arguing that California needs someone “in touch” with the voters.

Cindy Sheehan, the peace activist who set up camp near President Bush’s Texas ranch last summer, said Saturday she is considering running against Sen. Dianne Feinstein (news, bio, voting record) to protest what she called the California lawmaker’s support for the war in Iraq. “She voted for the war. She continues to vote for the funding. She won’t call for an immediate withdrawal of the troops,” Sheehan told The Associated Press in an interview while attending the World Social Forum in Venezuela along with thousands of other anti-war and anti-globalization activists. “I think our senator needs to be held accountable for her support of George Bush and his war policies,” said Sheehan, whose 24-year-old soldier son Casey was killed in Iraq in 2004.

Feinstein’s campaign manager, Kam Kuwata, said the senator “doesn’t support George Bush and his war policies.” “She has stated publicly on numerous occasions that she felt she was misled by the administration at the time of the vote,” Kuwata said by phone from California. But with troops committed, Feinstein believes immediate withdrawal is not a responsible option, Kuwata said. Senator Feinstein’s position is, let’s work toward quickly turning over the defense of Iraq to Iraqis so that we can bring the troops home as soon as possible,” he said.

Sheehan accused Feinstein of being out of touch with Californians on the issue.

Sheehan makes Feinstein look like a moderate statesman by comparison. And I thought only Barbara Boxer had that talent.

It's apparant that Cindy Sheehan has lost all touch with reality. I guess that is what happens when you listen and practice the left wing loony idology to long.

Who's next to go off the deep end, Kennedy, Kerry, Dean, Harry Reid or are these guys already there. The good lord only knows for sure.

Cindy Sheehan is a disgrace to this country. If she really is that unhappy, then she needs to move to Venezuela or better yet --- Cuba!!!!

Cindy Sheehan, man this a tuff one. I have been tyring to cut her some slack in light of the situation but enough is enough. Cindy Your son was a hero, did his letters mean nothing to you, have you not one bit of respect for his wishes, I mean I have seen the writings of what he thought, so I take that you have, did he not write them to you. First I had thought it was your grief that allowed you put your wounded heart into the hands of a group of vile, Godless, unknowing, uncaring, and yes unamerican antiwar protesters. Now I see I was misled as is almost always the case when I try to hope for, help or stick up for you or any other indoctrinated liberal. Your son fought to free millions of slaves, he fought to protect us, he willingly gave his life to slow down the most fearsome enemy we have ever faced. Do you know what the really sad thing is, he fought for you and the legions of ungrateful just like you so you could keep the right to spit on his sacrifice. Shame on you Cindy, but yet I will pray for you, so that one day you may see the light, as I do for all the rest who are lost.

I welcome the Sheehan candidacy. It will pull Feinstein to the left (where she is most comfortable) and make her vulnerable to a less radical Republican.

Could be fun.

cindy sheehan is a freak period.

I support the bush administration, but my liberal friend always brings up the fact that the bush administration has paid off jornalists and radio personalities. How do i respond to that? that does sound like government sponsored probaganda. If the dems are as crazy as they seem, why use covert probaganda? also why no transparency?
help me debate my friend.

Dondar, you would not believe how much work it takes to change the mind, let alone the heart of someone has been taught from the earliest stages of life that man has all the answers, and that "what makes you feel good" is the truth. I believe that praying for the spirit of God in the name His Son is the only way to learn to change anyone's heart. Still, it is not easy. I have also learned through my long years of studying history, and the bible , and all my years in rehab that once a heart becomes hard it is almost impossible to change it, let alone win a debate with it, without the owner of said heart wanting it to change. P.P. I don't think you were talking to me, but I hope this helps.

Cindy -like Hillary, is God's gift to conservatives -we just doen't know it because they don't come with bows and fancy paper.

Say thank you and save them for re-gifting -there will be others to take their places.

Will her campaign slogan be 'America is a cancer' or 'This country is not worth dying for'? I mean, they're both winners.
